June 2009, US educators will join South African educators on a 3-week study tour filled with whales, cheetahs, and fynbos. This program is designed specifically for educators. Travel with other teachers on this African journey that takes you along the coast of South Africa between Port Elizabeth and Cape Town to experience the unique Cape Floral plant kingdom, host to over 5,800 endemic plant species.

The wolf-moose project of Isle Royale needs your help.  We are looking for volunteers to join Research Expeditions to be conducted during spring and summer of 2009.  These expeditions are a vital aspect of the project’s field research and a truly unique opportunity to learn about the wolves and moose of Isle Royale.

The Science center for Teaching, Outreach, and Research on Meteorology (the STORM Project) at the University of Northern Iowa (Cedar Falls) will sponsor a short course entitled “Studies in Air Quality for Science Educators” on June 21-26, 2009. This intensive, one-week course is designed specifically for middle school and high school science teachers. Participants will receive a stipend. Expenses, including travel, will be paid by the STORM Project. Out-of-state teachers are encouraged to apply. For more information, see:

A British science teacher, Alom Shaha, has started an online project called "Why is Science Important?" at www.whyscience.co.uk. The site is a "collective blog" which features video, audio and written responses to the question "why is science important?" from scienctists, science teachers, public figures and members of the public. The aim of the project is to provide a resource that will help science teachers answer that inevitable question from their students -

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Physics Department's traveling demonstration show, Wonders of Physics, is on the road again for the 2008-2009 school year! Wonders of Physics has educated and entertained audiences with hair-raising physics demonstrations for over 25 years. The show has traveled to every county in Wisconsin, and over half of the states in the US. A Wonders of Physics show is a great way to get students of all ages excited about science. Presentations are catered to the audience's grade level and can be modified to cover a specific curriculum topic.
