These expeditions are a vital aspect of the project’s field research and a truly unique opportunity to learn about the wolves and moose of Isle Royale. |

The Science center for Teaching, Outreach, and Research on Meteorology (the STORM Project) at the University of Northern Iowa (Cedar Falls) will sponsor a short course entitled “Studies in Air Quality for Science Educators” on June 21-26, 2009. This intensive, one-week course is designed specifically for middle school and high school science teachers. Participants will receive a stipend. A British science teacher, Alom Shaha, has started an online project called "Why is Science Important?" at www.whyscience.co.uk. The site is a "collective blog" which features video, audio and written responses to the question "why is science important?" from scienctists, science teachers, public figures and members of the public. The University of Wisconsin-Madison Physics Department's traveling demonstration show, Wonders of Physics, is on the road again for the 2008-2009 school year! Wonders of Physics has educated and entertained audiences with hair-raising physics demonstrations for over 25 years. The show has traveled to every county in Wisconsin, and over half of the states in the US. A Wonders of Physics show is a great way to get students of all ages excited about science. Presentations are catered to the audience's grade level and can be modified to cover a specific curriculum topic. |

The Minnesota Science Teachers Association will be holding its spring meeting in Rochester, Minnesota on March 26-29, 2009. Our association would like to extend an invitation to our fellow colleagues from Wisconsin. As the home to Mayo Clinic there will be special opportunities to tour some of the labs at this internationally known medical center. With our location close to the western Wisconsin border I would like to find ways to announce this meeting to our fellow science teachers from your state. |

The Coleopterists Society, an international organization of professionals and hobbyists interested in the study of beetles, has established a program to recognize young people studying beetles. The Society has pledged to provide up to $300 each year for the Youth Incentive Award Program. |
