PHYSICAL SCIENCE & ENGINEERING PROFESSIONAL
DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP for K-9 TEACHERS
March 13, 2010 9am-2pm
Marquette University, Haggerty Engineering Building
1515 W. Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee
In this professional development workshop, participants will learn how to teach hands-on lessons in physical science
using engineering problem-solving activities. In 2010, new activities have been added to this popular program that
covers topics in magnetism, electricity, air pressure, water pressure, and pneumatics/hydraulics (fluid power).
Activities include Magnetic Cars, Electrical Circuits with LED Technology, Diving Bells, Hovering Hockey Pucks, and
Fluid Power Lifters. We thank the National Fluid Power Association for providing some of the materials; information
will be provided on their annual Fluid Power Challenge for 8th grade students.
