"Job Offer" Environmental Education in Wisconsin

The EE Consultant will support statewide K-12 environmental education initiatives in Wisconsin's schools and ultimately, will ensure Wisconsin is meeting its environmental literacy goals. Thanks to the efforts of many educators, organizations, and legislators this position has been reinstated after funding was cut in the late 1990s.

 

Overview:

The Environmental Education Consultant provides state level leadership to PK-12 districts with priorities in curriculum, instruction, and assessment in environmental science and environmental education; and to higher education institutions with priorities in preservice teacher development, teacher training, and overall program approval as related to environmental education.

 

Job Duties:

The responsibilities for this position are carried out in the Content and Learning Team, with assistance to Teacher Education, Professional Development and Licensing and include: 

a) assisting in the coordination, design or redesign, and evaluation of state level standards for environmental education; 

b) providing guidance and technical assistance in curriculum, instruction, and assessment in environmental education; 

c) providing professional development to improve teaching and learning of environmental education; 

d) coordinating the development of teacher preparation content guidelines as related to the Quality Educator Initiative (PI 34), and assisting colleges and universities with implementing PI 34; 

e) providing support to schools and districts designing and implementing environmental education programs; 

f) assisting with the state's implementation of federal and state legislation pertaining to environmental education. 

These responsibilities are accomplished by working closely with individuals representing colleges, universities, private organizations or institutions, professional organizations, schools, school districts, and CESAs while participating fully as a member of the Content and Learning Team.

 

Starting salary will be between $27.181 and $38.317 per hour ($56,753 and $80,006 per year). This position is in pay schedule 13, range 04. A six month probationary period is required.
